Outstanding Dementia care in Surrey with a high staff to resident ratio

Residents at Farnham Mill Nursing & Dementia Home receive full 24 hour dementia nursing care from a team of highly skilled nurses and carers, the home has been designed to help reduce the risk of falls and injury. A homely, comfortable and familiar dementia friendly environment helps to promote independence and helps residents to feel relaxed and safe.

Pictures and memorabilia have been carefully chosen to encourage reminiscing as well as creating a comfortable feel to the home. Outside, the beautiful gardens have been designed to enable residents with dementia to fully benefit from the therapeutic and wellbeing benefits that nature provides. Our floor-to-ceiling windows  offer full views of the mill pond, pier and landscaped gardens, providing happiness to all our residents.

Our 4 full time activity coordinators provide a full and varied 7 day weekly program of activities, which include 3 different types of live music and music therapy.  Music has been proven to reignite happy memories, which helps dementia residents to communicate verbally or non-verbally through the music.  Because of this we employ a music therapist who visit our residents and promote happiness.

We work in close partnership with residents and their families to help them on their journey with dementia. The different stages and types of dementia are well understood by our team. Alongside our nurses and team, we work with our visiting GP, physiotherapist, chiropodist and other health professionals, to support with resident’s care.

Residents and families have regular monthly meetings with their dementia nurse/manager to discuss any changes in care that may be needed. We also offer training and discussion groups for families to expand and share dementia related knowledge and experiences.
