Game, Set, Match: Your Guide to an Exciting Week at Wimbledon!

Experience the Thrill of Wimbledon: A Week Full of Tennis, Traditions, and themed Fun! Discover What’s Happening on and off at Farnham Mill.

8th Monday morning, we started our week off with parachute games in the lounges. A chance to strengthen our muscles with some light exercise, have fun and engage with and meet new friends.

A regular, soothing hand massage helps promote a happy and relaxed feeling for the day ahead and one to one time, with our Farnham Mill activities team, is a great chance to have a chat.

Our Wimbledon themed afternoon tea and quiz was a ‘smash’ this afternoon at Farnham Mill, as we all enjoyed a cup of tea with homemade cake and some Wimbledon facts and chatter from past to present.

9th Tuesday morning, our residents enjoyed a selection of ball games with everyone having a go at basketball, balloon badminton and ring toss. This helps us getting moving in the morning with it improving both coordination and mobility. Whilst other residents opted for a game of scrabble showing our skills and getting our brains activated.

In the spirit of Wimbledon here at Farnham Mill, we enjoyed making a strawberry and cottage cream cheesecake in Steve’s cooking class which has become a popular activity amongst the residents. Allowing the residents to work as a team to produce delicious treats.

In the afternoon we had Tinkerbell our pet therapy dog come in to see all the residents before the residents meeting. It is so lovely to see all the residents get a smile as they reminisce about pets that they used to keep. The residents meeting went down well, allowing residents to hear about future plans within the home and also bring up any concerns. Giving us the moment to say thank you to our lovely staff and award them sunflower awards.

10th July morning, Music Therapy Group Sessions brings such comfort and joy to our day. The tunes, rhythm and beat of the instruments helps to inspire a positive feeling and provides the opportunity for us to reminisce back to special days in our lives.

The sun came out and we made the most of some Wednesday sunshine and time in our very own Farnham Mill gardens.

As part of our Wimbledon week, at Farnham Mill, we had a fun arts and crafts morning creating our own tennis rackets. Some very colourful and individual designs and the opportunity to express ourselves through our joy of being creative.

11th July, in the morning we welcomed some very special, small and fluffy visitors to Farnham Mill. We were all so excited to see the duck and chickens racing each other in the lounge. To be able to hold and stroke the guinea pigs and rabbit, brought smiles to all our faces.

A trip out to our ‘Farnham Mill Local’ for a drink, some fresh air, a good chat and a change of scenery.

We are so lucky to have the Shepherd and Flock pub right on our doorstep.

Friday 12th, our lovely volunteer Molly, brought harmony and comfort with live cello music playing, soothing the minds and hearts of our residents at Farnham Mill this morning.

Bringing the delights of the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, to Farnham Mill, with an afternoon of TV Tennis, Pimms, strawberries and cream.

13th July Saturday morning, the residents enjoyed getting outside for some fresh air and appreciating all the vibrant colours in the gardens also taking a moment to admire the wildlife we are surrounded by. We also enjoyed some chess and word games keeping our brains active. An ideal way to start the weekend.

In the afternoon we enjoyed using the interactive omni table to engage our senses. We also enjoyed playing some group table games such as noughts and crosses and also testing out our table pool skills while bonding and chatting with each other.

14th July, to start off our Sunday morning, we enjoyed utilising our balcony to play a variety of games such as connect 4, bean bag toss and basket ball. The residents loved getting their bodies moving in the morning with the sun shining on them.

In the afternoon the residents were all captivated with the men’s final of Wimbledon. It was a great atmosphere within the home as we watched nervously with snacks and drinks provided for the residents throughout.
