At Farnham Mill, we held an American themed week, to celebrate/educate, engage our residents about American culture, history and traditions.
We tailored our activities to suit the age group and interests of the participants, making American week a fun and educational experience for everyone involved.
1st of July, we started of our morning with a group parachute game. This is a fun and cooperative activity that involves using a large, colourful parachute, typically made of lightweight fabric. It’s commonly played with big groups of people. and it helps develop teamwork, coordination, and motor skills.
We also had a group word game taking place on ground floor which is a great way to enhance our residents vocabulary, spelling and language skills while having fun. We also ventured out briefly for fresh air and the scent of the flowers was amazing in our Farnham Mill garden.
An orange themed tea party in the afternoon, as we gathered as a team, to show our support on World Bronchiectasis Day.
Our thoughts are with all those that suffer from this disease.
Balloons, orange clothing and home made cup cakes brought a blanket of orange to Farnham Mill.
2nd July, a great trip out for us all on the Basingstoke Canal in the morning. Our Farnham Mill ladies and gents enjoyed the calmness of the water whilst enjoying a picnic lunch on board.
They loved the beautiful scenery, the sight of stunning wildlife, chatter with the crew with a glass of white wine, beer and tea/coffee.
Painting is a wonderful form of artistic expression that allows individuals to convey emotions, ideas, and scenes through the use of colours, brushes, and various techniques.
3rd July, our residents took part in music therapy which is a clinical and evidence-based practice that uses music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional. It benefits individuals of all ages and can address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs.
Enhancing our afternoon, at Farnham Mill, with the calming scents of fresh lavender, lemon grass, rosemary and the soothing warmth and taste of a cup of herbal tea.

4th of July, in the morning we had fun filled morning with our friends from Tootsies visiting, putting a smile on the residents faces and helping us get creative with paper plate American flag crafts. On ground floor we also enjoyed an entertaining game of 4th of July picture bingo with lots of delicious prizes. An ideal way to start our day.
4th of July, we started off our morning with a fun engaging 4th of July bingo to celebrate America’s Independence Day with customised bingo cards with items related to the holiday.
Western and country style live music performance in the afternoon at Farnham Mill. Lots of singing, clapping and dancing. What a fun afternoon we’ve all had.
5th July, Friday morning was spent together in our lounges. We engaged in some American themed word games to keep our minds and thoughts active, and they enjoyed some light exercising of our arms, legs and muscles with lots of fun cheerleading moves.
Bringing America to Farnham Mill this afternoon, with our themed tea party with lots of ‘stars and stripes’, tea and cake and some American sayings and facts.
6th July, keeping dry and having fun on a Saturday morning at Farnham Mill. We enjoyed a very sociable morning, on the balcony, playing games and encouraging each other to have a go.
A sweet, delicious afternoon, as our American snack trolley kept us happy with treats including donuts, Oreo milkshake, Reese’s and chef’s homemade cookies. A wonderful Saturday afternoon at Farnham Mill, all ahead of England’s football match later today.

We were so thrilled and proud to have harvested our very first 3 radishes, this morning at Farnham Mill. Our vegetable patch is alive with the scent of fresh herbs and home-grown vegetables.
Pampering afternoon, having our hair done triggers memories and starts conversations. The familiar smells of the sprays and lotions promote our wellbeing through therapy happy thoughts and memories. We tried the Dyson hair air wrap, which brought volume, curls and style to our hair and made us all feel so very special.
