Our residents cosied up this week for an autumnal look at the fruit trees of the world. We made the most of the sunshine in October by enjoying lots of time outside and we filled our indoor time with lots of fun and engaging activities.
On Monday the 16th we started our week with fruit themed word games.
Then, we enjoyed morning movements with guided seated exercises.
Later, we sat back for afternoon tea with a fruit tree themed quiz.
On Tuesday the 17th our residents had fun getting messy and creative making (and tasting!) fruit tarts.
Then, we decorated apples to create our very own Farnham Mill orchard.
Oh! Who could forget our surprise visit from everyone’s best friend, Tinkerbell!
Finally, to end our Tuesday, we enjoyed a fabulous performance from Vic Cracknell.
On Wednesday the 18th of October, we started our day with laughs, movement and singing in music therapy.
Then, we tested our taste buds and expanded our horizons by trying a selection of tropical fruits grown on trees. This included coconuts, mango, passionfruit, pomegranate, citrus fruits, avocado’s and of course, classic apple pie!
We followed this with the classic taste of fruity bakes during our afternoon tea party.
On Thursday 19th of October, we enjoyed a variety of sensory loving activities such as sing-a-longs, sensory puzzles and our favourite movies.
In the afternoon, we learned a lot about flowers and how to arrange them beautifully, all whilst listening to the soothing background of piano music.
On Friday 20th our residents were pampered with hand massages and then enjoyed some time reminiscing.
In the afternoon, we enjoyed gentle and fun exercises, knocking down our fruit themed skittles.
On Saturday 21st of October, we exercised our minds with table games, word searches and garden walks.
Of course, we can’t have fruit tree week without trying some apple cider! Our residents enjoyed an apple tasting trolley as it toured the home.
To end our fruity week, we started our day with church services, relaxing music and of course, the Sunday papers. Finally, our residents had a choice of relaxing colouring or a movie matinee with cinema style snacks. “Paddington” bought big smiles and laughs. What a perfect way to end our week.
