Wilkkommen (Welcome) to Farnham Mill for our German themed week as we enjoyed an early start to Oktoberfest in September.

Sept 11th, we started our morning with Laura, our music therapist running our music therapy session, which takes place in the day care centre on first floor, with morning greetings, singalongs and musical instruments.

Guten Tag from Farnham Mill, as we had a glorious morning, some of our residents went for a stroll in the garden to catch some sunshine, look at the flowers and enjoy some fresh air.

Whereas on the other floors our residents were busy chatting with each other and helping each other with puzzles.

‘’ Ja Prost’’ starting of the Oktoberfest week with a themed afternoon tea party following with an Oktoberfest quiz.

Our lovely physio Adam comes weekly to help our residents exercise and mobilise, in a group or individually.

12th Sept, an active morning at Farnham Mill with a game of skittles and balloon games to get our arms and bodies moving.

The creative ones amongst us enjoyed the quieter option of painting.

We had the lovely Katie come in the afternoon for a “tap around show”, she kept our feet tapping throughout the whole performance.

13th Sept, we had our regular group of ladies join us for arts and crafts, they designed their very own pretzel while enjoying a cup of tea with mini pretzels to snack on.

We also enjoyed a quick photoshoot with our photo frame which was designed and decorated by our lovely residents.

In the afternoon, we had the Lord Wandsworth students join us on second floor, where they played music for us, socialised and took part in art and crafts with our fellow residents.

In the afternoon our residents had the opportunity to try some different beers. Cheers from us all.

Prost an alle

14th Sept, we decorated German gingerbread men at Farnham Mill, the perfect treat to follow on after the Oktoberfest beer trolley from the day before.

A profusion of blooms at our Farnham Mill flower arranging group.

15th Sept a fun, Friday morning gathering in our day care centre to design our own beer mats. Our budding designers created some unique mats ready to place a nice cool drink on later today.

Others engaged in some sensory/board games and enjoyed a cuddle with a sensory toy.

A very sociable afternoon of skittles and dominoes.

More and more players kept joining in to play, the sound of laughter and competitive cheer of winning was wonderful to hear.

16th Sept, Saturday scrabble and Singalong with Sarah in the morning.

A lovely warmth among us as we sang with our voices, minds and hearts. Singing the good old songs from days gone by. A wonderful start to our Farnham Mill weekend.

Continuing with our Oktoberfest week, we had a food tasting trolley which offered some true German delights including giant pretzels, frankfurters, Bavarian cheese and of course a cool German beer.

17th Sept, a stay inside, book choosing, kind of Sunday at Farnham Mill.

Sunday morning, we spent some 1 to 1 time with most of our residents catching up chatting, enjoying each other’s company. The church service was on for those who wanted to watch it.

We had a round of word games to keep our brain going.

What a difference in the weather from last weekend! In the afternoon we took our residents out for some fresh air and walks, followed by a sit down and a hot cuppa in the rainy weather, enjoying some scrapbooking and chit chats.
