We had a great week celebrating ‘Women in Sport’ with a variety of exciting activities.
We indulged ourselves in a delicious barbeque on a sunny day while listening to Jayney sing our favourite tunes.
Monday, 14th August
We began our week with one of our favourite weekly activities: Music Therapy. We played our instruments, tapped our feet in time to the music and sang our hearts out. We really had a good time.
Monday afternoon we acknowledged our ‘Women in Sport’ with an afternoon tea party and a ‘Question of Sport Quiz’. There was a real sense of community as we celebrated their achievements.
Tuesday, 15th August
In the morning, for those who felt energetic, we held cheerleader exercises, balloon games and table tennis.
Those who wanted a quieter morning went on garden walks and enjoyed our beautiful surroundings.
Others enjoyed a pamper session by Prabesh in the Farnham Mill Hair Salon.
Wednesday, 16th August
In the morning we took advantage of the sunny weather once again and went on garden walks to get some fresh air and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
We made trophies in our Art Club in anticipation of the Women’s World Cup Final.
Meanwhile, Prabesh continued his pamper sessions in the Farnham Mill Hair Salon.
Tinkerbell, our pet therapy dog paid us a visit, delighting our residents.
What a stunning, fun afternoon we had with our delicious barbeque, our lovely entertainer, Janey and all the friends and family who joined us.
We indulged in the delicious food. A big shout out to our catering staff for all the hard work.
We danced away to party songs performed by Jayney and rounded the afternoon off with staff and residents joining in the famous dance ‘The Locomotion’.
Thursday, 17th August
A few residents had expressed their wish to visit Sainsburys. We set off on a sunny Thursday morning to admire the fashions in season, look at the bouquets of flowers as well as appreciate the delicious, bright coloured fruits and vegetables. Back at Farnham Mill residents were occupied with brain games and sensory puzzles.
Thursday afternoon we gathered to make beautiful flower arrangements, share a laugh, and enjoy a cup of tea.
Friday, 18th August
In the morning some residents participated in brain games, while others opted for, yet another pamper session. This time in the form of relaxing hand massages.
We had a hilarious afternoon of ‘Pig Racing – Famous Sports Women Edition’.
Our piggies were all named after famous ladies of sport, and as they raced to the finish lines, flags were flying, and residents were shouting for the piggy they were supporting. Virginia Wade and Mary Rand were a firm favourite. Prizes were won by residents supporting the fastest ‘woman of the sport’.
Saturday, 19th August
We had a busy morning filled with garden walks, table games and making good use of our stunning sensory table.
In the afternoon, ahead of the Women’s World Cup Final, we offered a Hydration and Energy trolley – Cherry Ice, Lucozade and Irn Bru- were enjoyed by all.
Sunday, 20th August
In the morning the home cheered on England’s finest footballers as they took on Spain in the World Cup Final.
The Lionesses played hard, and we are proud of you all.
In the afternoon we rounded up the exciting week with a movie screening of Gregory’s Girl.
