At Farnham Mill our residents enjoy a close bond with all our staff, many of whom come from different geographical areas, including Asia. We celebrated this as part of our Orient Week, which covered many aspects of various Asian cultures including food and dance.
Monday 26th June, in the morning we took part in music therapy, it brings such joy to our day and huge smiles to our faces.
A chance to tap our toes, wave our arms and explore many musical instruments.
Expressing our emotions through our fingertips, strumming, and shaking those instruments.
As part of our Farnham Mill travels to the Orient this week, we enjoyed a special afternoon tea with our activities team.
We also had the Moore House school children join us for afternoon tea.
We love the very special bond we have developed with the children from Moore House School. Exchanging letters on a regular basis brings such joy to our days as we love to hear all their latest news.
A huge thank you to the Moore House children for joining us at Farnham Mill as their chatter, laughter and smiles brightened our day and we thank them for our growing friendships.

Tuesday 27th June, we enjoyed an active and creative morning at Farnham Mill, with chair exercises, balloon bounce as well as creating beautiful Japanese cherry blossom collages.
China and many Asian countries have a rich and long history in ceramics, and we honoured this tradition with some pottery painting of our own by some of our talented Farnham Mill residents at Squires Garden Centre in the afternoon.
Our residents had a wander round the pet’s area, they looked at indoor animals, turtles, guinea pigs and some creepy crawlies.
28th June, in the morning, to wake up and to keep the brain active, we played a word game with an Oriental theme, to come up with many words as we could.
Our residents had a wonderful afternoon tea party out on the balcony with one of our carer’s Melita performing traditional Filipino dances, wearing traditional clothes, our residents had a great time watching.
We also had the Lord Wandsworth students joining us for some chitchat, they discussed their past and their plans for summer holidays.
29th June, continuing with our ‘Orient’ themed week our Farnham Mill creators made these amazing lanterns and fans. From start to finish, all the preparation, cutting and sticking, we are always so proud of what we achieve.
The fans will keep us cool, and the lanterns bring brightness and colour to our day.
In the afternoon, we welcomed the lovely Gareth to Farnham Mill, for a wonderful afternoon of music, singing and dancing.
A chance for everyone to come together and have fun, even our visitors like to join in with us. Thank you, Gareth, from us all and we look forward to seeing you again.
30th June, we spent the morning relaxing with therapeutic hand massages and 1 to 1’s, as we took time to chill out and be pampered by our activities team.
Making sure our ladies and gents nails were thoroughly clean, manicured and for the ladies freshened up their nails with fresh colour and new sets of nails.
30th June, our Farnham Mill family all came together to raise awareness on World Bronchiectasis Day.
We all wore an item of orange clothing and held an orange themed afternoon tea party to show our support for those suffering with this disease.
This is especially close to our hearts, and we look to support our staff and families by showing that we are there for each other and that we really care. If one person’s life is made easier by there being more understanding, support, and awareness then we are winning.
31st of June, we started off the morning with garden walks and then we got our colours and paints out for those who enjoy being creative, we were as creative as we wanted to be, expressing feelings and emotions while painting.
In the afternoon, we had a taste of the Orient where our touring trolley offered an Oriental Banquet including spring rolls, samosas and prawn crackers with sauce and dips. Some tasty flavours to arouse our taste buds- simply delicious.
In Farnham Mill we are always sharing and caring for each other, this brings us all together and creates a deep bond between us.
1st July, our residents had a relaxed Sunday morning enjoying colouring and the church services in lounge.
Sunday afternoon all our residents enjoyed a delicious ice cream trolley, with a variety of flavours and toppings.
