We are so proud to announce that we are celebrating the news that we have 7 finalists in the Hampshire Care Awards, which are due to be held on the 15th June, hosted by Dr Hillary Jones.

Over 800 nominations were entered throughout Hampshire, with the finalists being chosen anonymously, on merit, by a judging panel. There are 13 categories, with only 3 finalists per category, a massive achievement.

The 7 finalists we would like to give huge congratulations too are:

  • Hill Brow Residential Home – Residential Care Home of the Year finalist
  • Hill Brow was nominated by residents, relatives and staff. Some of the comments included:   “How wonderful it is to live at Hill Brow”,” The staff are all so caring and loving, nothing is ever too much trouble,” Bev and Rejoice are fair and kind”, “best place I have ever worked” “the managers and staff are a brilliant team, cover each other with whatever the residents needs are”, “I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else”, “the all seem so happy at Hill Brow”.

 

  • James Blight – Manager of the Year finalist
  • James is our hospitality manager for both Farnham Mill and Hill House. Since joining Woodlands & Hill Brow in June 2022 he has given his all everyday to make sure that the residents have the best possible experience whilst living in the homes. Along with supporting the homes in making sure our residents are well looked after, he has been instrumental in the success of our staff appreciation days which we hold every quarter for 2 days.

 

  • Chijman Budhathoki – Ancillary of the Year finalist
  • Chijman has worked for us for 6 months as a housekeeping assistant at Farnham Mill. “Nothing is ever too much trouble for him”, “ he works hard because he wants to make sure that the resident’s life is as good and comfortable as possible” “When Chijman is on duty you know he is always going to give it his all”, “ Chijman always seems so happy and accommodating”.

 

  • Pushpa Pun – Newcomer of the Year finalist
  • Pushpa is one of our nurses at our Farnham Mill home, and she has worked with us since May 2022. She was nominated for this award from a student nurse who came in from Winchester University. “Pushpa made me feel very supported during my placement”,” pushpa gave me encouragement, time and support to learn how to communicate with people of varying degrees of health issues”, “One day I hope to be like Pushpa” “Pushpa from the first day she arrived at Farnham Mill, seemed to have grown 2 foot, from when I had known her previously” “Pushpa made becoming a nurse look like the easiest thing in the world”.

 

  • Bryony Swadling – Activity Coordinator of the Year finalist
  • Bryony is one of our activity’s coordinators at Hill House, she has been working for us since 2019.” Bryony is always very bright and bubbly”, ”It is obvious when you see Bryony person who loves the residents she works with”,  “Bryony loves to set up and run big events across the homes”, “her most recent accomplishments include setting up and running a dementia choir with the residents from across the 4 homes, it was absolutely amazing to see the impact of this on the residents happiness”, “ The choir Bryony organises each fortnight to sing, she organises musicians, transport, and refreshments, that is no mean feat”, her skills and care of the residents doesn’t end with her job she also is a trustee for the charity families supporting care.

 

  • Prabesh Gurung – Activity Coordinator of the Year finalist
  • Prabesh is one of our activity coordinators at Farnham Mill, he has worked for us for almost 2 years. Prabesh communicates really well with all our residents. “he is especially good with our residents living with dementia”, “He is able to talk with them in a way that reassures them and instantly breaks down any barriers” “He listens to each resident and makes them feel special.”

“he includes all residents in his activities” “He has the most amazing smile that lights up his face”.

 

  • Mike Ferguson – Volunteer of the Year finalist
  • Mike is one our of volunteers at our Hill House home. Mike has volunteered with us since his wife sadly passed away whilst living at Hill House.” All throughout the pandemic Mike would do anything asked, whether that be doing pharmacy runs or paperwork. Mike is invaluable to the home, and nothing is every too much trouble.”  “He always pushes the residents around the gardens, with a smile on his face, even when they are younger and heavier than him” “our biggest problem with mike is the jealousy between the residents to send time with him, no matter how much time and effort he gives, the residents always want more” “Mike is always there when you ask for help, setting up a room, keeping someone company, doing a administrative task, or anything.  Mike is one of the kindest and calmest gentlemen I have ever met”.
