What a busy week at Farnham Mill, we started the week with a live entertainer where we all enjoyed singing along and dancing. With the beautiful sunshine we spent lots of time in the garden sitting watching the ducks and admiring the daffodils, we had the pygmy goats visit and, of course, we celebrated Mother’s Day with our lovely Mothers on Sunday with chocolate gifts.
Monday 21 March and we started the week with exercises and balloon games. A chance to stretch and reach for that balloon and have a laugh with one another.
In the afternoon we had one of our favourite singers, Gareth. We were able to sing and dance along. It was very enjoyable.
Tuesday 22 March and in the morning the art club were helping to create a ‘Mother’s Day Photo Frame’. Working to create something together is a good way to get to know each other and find out what we have in common. The hair salon was busy too, everyone likes having their hair done by Teresa.
In the afternoon our baking club were busy. Mixing the ingredients together to produce a lovely scone to serve with cream and jam, how delicious.
Other residents took the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy the sun.
Wednesday 23 March and we had Alison’s lovely pygmy goats visit us. It was lovely to see them and we all got a chance to stroke and feed them treats.
In the afternoon residents enjoyed being outside soaking up the sun. An opportunity to chat over a cup of tea, or an ice cream if preferred.
Thursday 24 March and some residents did craft activities in the morning, making a lovely floral collage together.
In the afternoon it was time to be outside again. We are so lucky to have such wonderful grounds at Farnham Mill and we try to make the most of it – always time for tea on the pontoon. However, some residents preferred to do flower arranging with the lovely fresh flowers that get delivered every week. Its lovely to be able to have so many vases of colourful flowers in our rooms.
We also celebrated a lovely lady’s birthday – a wonderful cake along with staff singing ‘Happy Birthday’.
Friday 25 March and an early morning visit on a resident’s patio. So lovely with the colourful planters around the garden. On the first floor residents were also out early morning playing balloon games on the balcony.
In the afternoon our Art Club were painting ‘Bouquets’. Lots of chatter about our favourite flowers and colours. On the second floor one of our residents played the piano, bringing back memories of the music he used to play.
Saturday 26 March and in the morning, residents got together to do puzzles and reminisce. We have so many experiences and memories to share.
Other residents played music and danced along, it was so good to move and dance along to our favourite tunes.
In the afternoon residents enjoyed more time outside in the sunshine and on the balcony.
Sunday 27 March – Mothering Sunday and an opportunity to say thank you to all our special mothers and those that have cared for us. Flowers, chocolates and lots of visits from family, what a lovely day and full of smiles.
