Farnham Mill had a busy week preparing for Christmas Day.   We were able to have lots of family visits, swapping presents, a Christmas Afternoon Tea with residents from our sister home, Christmas Bingo and a visit from goats as well as relaxing and watching White Christmas.  A lovely run up to the big day.

Monday 20 December and the morning started off with a little ‘kick around’ on the second floor whilst jigsaw puzzles were preferred on the first floor.

In the afternoon it was ‘eyes down’ for Christmas Musical Bingo.  We love our musical bingo as we get to singalong to our favourite Christmas tunes.  The chocolate prize is good as well!

Tuesday 21 December and we started the morning looking at the cards we received from children at Fleet Infants School and our Pen pals at More House School in Frensham.  It was lovely to see their lovely artwork and read their messages.  Some residents also took the opportunity to have a walk outside before the goats made their Christmas visit to us.  It’s great being able to stroke and feed them when they come into our home.

In the afternoon we created a Christmas ‘Photo Booth’ and some residents came to have a special ‘Christmassy’ photo taken.  We all had a bit of a laugh posing with the donkey.

Wednesday 22 December and some residents took part in a special Christmas Holy Communion service with Father John whilst other residents decorated cupcakes ready for our afternoon tea with residents from Woodlands Care Home.

It was lovely to welcome our guests from Woodlands in the afternoon and we had a great time catching up and hearing about our different homes.  We think they enjoyed the cupcakes we decorated as well.

Thursday 23 December and whilst some residents enjoyed a relaxing foot spa, others had another sensory experience – smelling Christmassy scents.

In the afternoon our flower arranging club met on our first floor.  We had some lovely flowers to arrange.  It’s such a great chance to sit together and discuss how we’ll arrange them in vases throughout the home.

Friday 24 December – Christmas Eve – and we started off being energetic with balloon games.  A great way to start the morning and have a bit of exercise.  After that we exercised our voices with our Farnham Mill Choir – we enjoy singing together and we took the opportunity to sing our favourite Christmas Carols.  Some residents preferred to do painting.  It was a very busy morning.

We opted for a relaxing afternoon – one of our favourite Christmas films – White Christmas.

Christmas Day – lots of residents were able to open presents from their family before our lovely Christmas dinner.  We all enjoyed seeing what each other got.

Boxing Day and we started the day with a word game.  It certainly gets our brain working in the morning.  We finished the day with relaxing hand and head massages.  The perfect way to end a busy week.
