We started the month, on Monday with a trip out to Redfield’s Garden Centre, in Church Crookham. After a wonder around getting some Christmas Present ideas and looking at the plants, we had a drink and a cake in their lovely glass atrium.
In the afternoon of the 5th we had a visit from Zara, for one of her Pat the Dog visits.
On Tuesday the 6th the weather was lovely, so we had some ice cream on the patio after a walk out in the gardens in the morning and then in the afternoon games and puzzles in the lounge.
On the 7th we had balloon games followed by a word search in the morning and in the afternoon Farnham Mill Music Club filled the top floor.
On Thursday the 8th the Men’s Club had a trip out to Homebase and the lady’s enjoyed some time chatting over a cuppa next to the Mill Pond.
On Friday the Ben and Sam came to sing and play for us. They were a very dapper pair and sang very well together.
There was a Book Facts Quiz on the balcony in the morning.
On Saturday the 10th we had a trip to Hill Brow who hosted our Annual Garden Party, a fund raising event for Families Supporting Care. The theme was Disney and there were lots of family and friends. Nearly £2000 was raised.
Monday the 12th Luc Lamparo sang acapella for us on the 2nd floor. She was very good.
It was another wonderful afternoon spent socialising on the patio.
Tuesday the 13th after our 121’s with our carers and the seaside word search, Nev and Claire came to sing for us.
In preparation for our Seaside trip in a couple of weeks we are incorporating the seaside theme into our activities. Our arts and crafts clubs used sea shells to make garlands with a little help from visitors, on Wednesday 14 August.
On our trip out we attended a Singing and Reminiscing Afternoon Tea as part of St Johns 175th Celebrations. It was an interesting afternoon.
On the 15th we enjoyed a visit to Badshot Lea Garden Centre. We always have a look around the pet and aquarium first, then a wonder around the shop, finishing off with a cup of tea and a slice of delicious cake in their café.
Arts and Crafts started the day on the 16th along with some flower arranging.
Up on the 2nd floor after lunch Emma sang Sea Side Songs with us. Oh I do love to be beside the seaside…
We also had some ball games on the patio with the Carers
Our weekly Gardening Club have done ever so well. We can’t wait to sample the tomatoes.
On Monday the 19th we had an outing to the Princes Royal Pub. It was a lovely day so we sat outside enjoying the sunshine, putting the world right over a cuppa and a packet of crisps.
We had a variety of games on the 20th before lunch including bingo, draughts.
In the afternoon we celebrated all that is French. With French food, music and games. It was a great conversation piece and a very enjoyable day.
On the 21st we continued with our scrap booking. The books are getting very full and are great to look through with friends and visitors.
Tootsies nursery was a lovely place to visit on the 22nd. The children behaved wonderfully. They showed us all that they love to play with and we got to join in for story time too.
We decided to play skittles as our ball game on the 23rd.
In the afternoon we had our monthly Summer BBQ. These have become very popular and it is so wonderful to see so many family and friends enjoying the food and entertainment with us.
Monday the 26th was a bank holiday. There were lots of visitors to the home. Many enjoyed the sunshine in the beautiful grounds.
On Tuesday we visited the Lakeside Tearoom.
Stefano came to sing Italian Songs for us on the 27th in the afternoon.
Keeping on the Italian theme we made Pizza’s in our Cookery Club on the 28th, Italia Day.
To round off the month Gareth came to sing his excellent selection of songs. We couldn’t resist a dance and sing along.
The children from Bright Horizons visited the home on the 30th. They are very chatty and love to play on with the giant garden games on the balcony.
In the afternoon the Art Club made Summer Butterflies, which you can see dotted around the home if you pop in for a visit.
