Saint George’s Day/ English Week, we hope everyone had a great week.

Triumph over adversity; Perseverance in the face of struggle; knowing that good always wins out in the end.

Celebrate your triumphs and successes today and reflect on what you have achieved, knowing that you have what it takes to achieve even more.

The cold weather outside stopped us from our balcony games, so we opted for ‘Lounge Games’ in the morning, an opportunity to join in with a game of giant dominoes, score a basket or take part in our St. George’s word game.

A great start to our Monday at Farnham Mill.

Ahead of St. George’s Day, we enjoyed a very traditional English Afternoon Tea with a quiz all about the traditions, geography, and facts of England.

We all had “the” debate on whether it’s jam or cream/butter first on scones.

What’s your preference? Which comes first?

Celebrating St. George’s Day at Farnham Mill with some flag crafting and a fun game of group St. George’s Day bingo, with all things English, including Big Ben, a London bus and of course a beautiful English red rose.

Tuesday afternoon was Farnham Mill’s turn to host our Woodlands and Hill Brow Dementia Choir.

A prospect for our lovely ladies and gents to meet up, socialise and most importantly sing.

Singing to our hearts content brings joy to our minds and a sense of feeling free and relaxed to our hearts and bodies. Thank you to our friends from Hill Brow and Hill House for a wonderful afternoon.

Celebrating English week at Farnham Mill with one of Britain’s favourite dishes- Chicken Tikka Masala.

Steve’s cooking class was a great opportunity to learn how to make this popular dish and to delight our senses with the taste and smells of the wonderful spices.

Through the healing and uplifting power of music, our weekly music therapy session provides a safe and supportive space for us to express ourselves and find comfort and solace in the beauty of sound.

A typical ‘English Afternoon’ at Farnham Mill with a reminiscing game of dominoes, with our friends from Lord Wandsworth College and some familiar snacks including our favourite biscuits and sweets from years gone by.

Thursday morning at Farnham Mill consisted of some games in the lounge and a lovely visit from Tootsies Nursery which is always a firm favourite with our residents.

A wonderful performance by Tony this afternoon for our residents at Farnham Mill to enjoy, he kept on the St. Georges Theme for the week with classic British songs.

A very happy and engaging Friday morning at Farnham Mill.

We started our day with some fun and engaging parachute games helping us to exercise our arms and coordinate with one another.

Afterwards Father John and the choir led us with hymns and prayers and a quiet chance to reflect with our thoughts.

A lovely time out for our annual trip to Ellisfield, to see the beautiful blossoming Bluebells.

A drive through to the countryside and then returning home, for a hot tea and biscuits.

Saturday morning, we had the lovely opportunity to support ‘Families Supporting Care Charity’ by making our special gift cards to display and receive donations for at our coffee bar.

This week was a selection of birthday cards for the important people in all our lives.

Traditional afternoon tea, at Farnham Mill, with chef’s homemade scones and his speciality Lemon Drizzle.

We also had family visiting and joining us, following with lots of chats and laughs.

Through our lives, Sunday Morning was always chilled and relaxed and spent catching up on the news, reading a book or magazine or simply resting after a busy week.

At Farnham Mill we like to continue with this ‘Sunday Tradition’ by offering a selection of ‘reads’ from our popular mobile library trolley.

Continuing in the afternoon, with a restful Sunday, we settled in the lounges to play table games like dominoes and to meet for our Farnham Mill Shared Reading Group.
