Another busy week at Farnham Mill with visits from Pygmy Goats, school children, scouts and even Father Christmas took time from his busy schedule to pop in and see all our residents. We also enjoyed our Christmas Dinner and held a Christmas Fair with residents from the other homes in the Woodlands and Hill Brow group visiting.
Monday 12 December and as usual, we start the day with a walk in the garden and feeding the birds. It was certainly a frosty morning.
A Christmas Smells trolley then visited the floors of Farnham Mill. We had to try and guess the smell without seeing what it was. With smells such as cinnamon, nutmeg, orange, marzipan etc, this brought back many memories for us and lots of reminiscing about our past Christmas’.
We then had a delivery of beautiful handprint door wreaths and Christmas cards from the 1st Farnham Brownies to decorate our home. Thank you very much.
In the afternoon we played musical bingo. This was a great opportunity to sing some of our favourite songs, as well as enjoying some chocolates and mince pies.
Tuesday 13 December and we had a lovely visit from the pygmy goats, they looked very festive, and we enjoyed stroking them and giving them treats.
The afternoon was nice and relaxed with wordsearches and hand massages. A lovely way to end the day.
In the evening we had a fantastic visit from the local scout group who sang Christmas songs for us. It was so lovely to hear their voices and for them to take time to visit us.
Wednesday 14 December and we were thrilled to have the children from William Cobbett School visit us to sing some songs from their Nativity Show. We all agreed how delightful they were, and we all joined in with Away in a Manger at the end. Afterwards the children enjoyed exploring our gardens before heading back to school.
The afternoon was spent being creative with craft activities. We made paper plate elves and wool Christmas trees to decorate our home. This gives us a chance to sit together, chat and enjoy a cup of tea and some chocolates.
Thursday 15 December, the day of our Christmas dinner and staff Christmas jumper day. We started with pre-dinner drinks of Prosecco, Bucks Fizz or Sherry and then all residents had a wonderful Christmas dinner together. Father Christmas was able to call in and visited all the residents with a present for each. It was certainly a very festive day.
Friday 16 December and it was the day of our fete which was very exciting, lots of preparation had gone into it and we also got to meet residents from the other homes in the group – Woodlands, Hill House and Hill Brow. There was Santa Hat Toss, Guess the Number of Baubles, Memory Card Game, Lucky Dip, Pin the Nose on Rudolph as well as other games.
Saturday 17 December and in the morning we decorated some door wreaths and had a lovely afternoon cocktail trolley.
Sunday 18 December and a day of pampering – cheese and biscuits trolley and foot spas. What a way to end a very busy week.
