This week we have looked at all kinds of dance, from Ballet to Morris Dancing in the form of YouTube videos, quizzes, reminiscing, art and craft as well as a 1970s Disco theme afternoon tea. It has been a lot of fun and brought back many memories. We have managed a trip out to our local church for a Sunday morning service as well as celebrating some birthdays at Farnham Mill.
Monday 26 September and we were treated to a lovely visit from a friendly Robin as we went out to put some seed on our bird table. What a lovely way to start a week.
We then did a word game in the main lounge. We love to work together and see how many words we can make from the daily phrase. Today it was ‘I Love Dancing’ and we found 140 words. Can you do any better ?
In the afternoon we did some ballgown collages with tissue paper. We imagined going to the Ball, the type of music and who would be there. It was a great way to reminisce and share memories.
Tuesday 27 September and in the morning the residents gathered and did wordsearch games and jigsaw puzzles. A nice relaxing start to the day.
In the afternoon we were up, dancing and singing along to Ray Lowe as he sang songs from the 1950s and 1960s for us. Songs by the great legends such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
Wednesday 28 September and as the sun was shining brightly our word game was ‘Beautiful Sunshine’. We made 150 words this time.
In the afternoon we had a go at some craft. We made little ballerinas with cupcake cases and lolly sticks. We all agreed they were very cute.
Thursday 29 September and there were more word games to start the day. It’s something that we look forward to in the mornings.
The afternoon was flower arranging. Such lovely flowers are arranged by the residents to be displayed around the home and in our rooms and we have some wonderful volunteers who come in each week to assist.
Friday 30 September and we started with balloon games. Lots of stretching to reach that balloon and hit it back to one another.
In the afternoon celebrated a lovely lady’s birthday. She had an afternoon with friends and family visiting, as well as residents and staff all wanting to wish her Happy Birthday.
Saturday 1 October and some residents enjoyed a walk and a talk outside, whilst others got creative with paint and glitter. There was certainly lots of choice for people to choose from.
In the afternoon we had a 1970s Disco themed afternoon tea, with lots of disco music playing we gathered to enjoy some delicious cake and a cup of tea. It was great fun with lots of glitter and sparkle.
Sunday 2 October and two residents were able to go to our local church, St Johns in Hale, for the morning service. They really enjoyed being able to sing hymns in the church and listen to the organ playing.
In the afternoon our ladies gathered for the regular knitting club where there was lots of chat and tea. A lovely gentleman was also able to celebrate his birthday with family.
