Monday the 8th, in the morning we had our residents meeting, which most residents attended. We talked about upcoming changes or new meal plans, activities, introducing new staff members as well as giving the residents another opportunity to voice their opinions about their needs and to let the managers know if they want any new changes or alternatives.
in the afternoon as there was a lovely Afternoon Tea, as we sat together chatting and reminiscing it a special and heart-warming moment.
What a way to enjoy a classic beverage and pretend you’re royalty.
For those residents, who couldn’t join us in the lounges, we made sure we took our trolley with cakes and tea to each individual’s room. It was a perfect excuse to catch up with over a cup of tea and some delicacies.
Tuesday 9th, we started of the day by painting some famous British landmark’s such as London bridge, Stonehenge, London eye, the tower of London, the Shard and many more.
We also had some wonderful students from Lord Wandsworth School. The lovely young ladies visit with us and spent some quality time together in the lovely sunshine outside.
While others enjoyed the weather in the morning with lots of walks in the garden and lots of catching up and socialisation in the balcony with chilled drinks and reminiscing music.
It can’t be best of British Week if there weren’t scones being baked!!!
Scone making was followed by a tea party, where the residents enjoyed the freshly bake scones with lots of laughter whilst sipping on their tea.
The scones were ever so delicious we could resist having just one more!
Our residents also enjoy using the interactive OMNI tables where they play various of games and quizzes. It which allows them to have fun and relax them at the same time.
Wednesday 10th, we played word games, where they tried to find lots of words from a very British phrase ‘’talk the hind leg off a donkey’’. We also talked about each of our favourite British sayings, slang or phrases that they used to use.
Music plays an important role in the lives of our residents. It helps to improve mood, bring happy memories and especially put a smile in their faces which thanks to Louis playing the piano, our residents were beaming and we all asked for an encore.
Thursday 11th, Farnham Mill did some British inspired paintings and colouring in using bright and beautiful joyful colours.
The sunflowers are so special to us all in Farnham Mill, they represent smiles, laughter and happiness and just how much we care about our whole big family.
Thursday afternoon is the time for our resident’s time to use their creativity to create a beautiful and a unique master piece of their own.
Friday 12th we started the morning with one of our popular activities ‘balloon badminton’’ which gets us in a super competitive mood and to have lots of fun and laughter together.
We reminisced together by looking at our scrapbooks. Going through the memories of the times spent here in Farnham Mill.
In the morning we started off by doing some sensory games.
These sensory games can be so interesting but at the same time addictive, while trying to finish the puzzle.
In the afternoon, we all sat down together and had a best of British quiz where we all quizzed each other on British history and many well known facts.
It is always so lovely to seeing friends and having a quick catch-up chat.
13th Saturday, we began the day by exercising our minds and bodies with seated yoga/stretches as well as word games to keep our brains active too.
After a busy morning, our residents at Farnham Mill relaxed with soothing hand massages.
We watched my fair lady on the television.
We also started the weekend with fresh cuppa and freshly baked raisin scones. An enjoyable way to spend the afternoon.
Sunday 14th, our residents spotted a new visitor, out in the garden and was very excited to see while on their Sunday morning walks.
We also got very crafty using coloured art clays to shape and form into our own creative imagination.
In the afternoon, we played balloon badminton and balloon bounce and we all had a very heated match.
We all played took turns as we played in groups.
