Residents at Farnham Mill have had another busy week – lots of singing and dancing, walks outside, practicing golf, art and craft and, of course, just being together and having fun.
Monday morning, 10 January, and we played balloon games. This is a great way to exercise and we always have a laugh, and to follow that we did a word game to exercise our brains.
With it being frosty outside our Art Club made ‘frosty and snowy’ tree pictures in the afternoon. We were very proud of our final artwork.
Tuesday 11 January and one of our residents was out on the balcony practicing his golf strokes. It’s a great facility we have at Farnham Mill and its nice and sheltered from the cold outside.
Other residents had a quick check on the ducks on our pond before taking part in our Science Club. Its so interesting seeing what things look like under the microscope.
In the afternoon we were able to celebrate two ladies’ birthdays with lovely colourful and creamy cakes. How delicious.
Wednesday 12 January we got our brains working by doing an A-Z word game. First, we covered Animals, then UK towns and cities and then plants. We did struggle with X and Z so we had to use Google to help us out !
Some of our gentlemen reminisced about DIY jobs they used to do at home. Looking at tools and what decorating jobs we did.
In the afternoon the sun was shining so we made the most of our lovely grounds and had walks outside. We wrapped up warm and were able to see the bulbs just starting to show.
We then enjoyed looking through our scrapbooks with a cup of tea. Looking at pictures of what we have done within Farnham Mill is a great way of reminiscing with our friends.
Thursday 13 January and our gardening club started planting some seeds ready for planting out in the spring. It was such a sunny day that we also had a walk outside to see where we will be planting them.
Our regular flower arranging club took place in the afternoon. Its very popular with our residents and we had so many flowers to arrange this week. A perfect opportunity to sit together and be busy.
Friday 14 January and our Activity Co-ordinators tried out a new quiz idea. We had to pick a piece of paper with a picture on from a box and see if we could think of a song to go with it. We loved this new game and ended up singing and dancing all morning. We decided we will have this on our schedule again.
In the afternoon we watched our lovely ducks on the pond. They are fascinating and keep us entertained.
Saturday 15 January and we caught up with the news in our papers, read magazines and did jigsaw puzzles. It was a chance to relax and catch up.
In the afternoon some residents watched a film whilst others preferred to watch documentaries in their rooms.
Sunday morning started with a walk outside. The sun was shining again and it gave us an appetite for the delicious roast dinner that chef was cooking.
In the afternoon we were able to do some painting, knit, or just chat about the busy week we’ve had.
