The week between Christmas and New Year has been very busy for residents at Farnham Mill.  It’s given us the opportunity to enjoy our wonderful gardens, watch the ducks on the pond, play games and relax looking at books together before celebrating with a lovely New Years Eve buffet on Friday.  Happy New Year Everyone !

Monday 27 December and residents enjoyed a variety of ball games, knitting and puzzles in the morning.

The afternoon was spent enjoying a word game – exercising our brains.  We always enjoy these working as a group.

Tuesday 28 December and in the morning we kept fit by playing balloon games.  It’s a good way to stretch and get the blood circulating round our body.  It can also be quite competitive as we move around the floors at Farnham Mill.  Our Baking Club was also a popular event – a time to share our cookery skills.

In the afternoon residents were fascinated by what they were looking at under the microscope in our Science Club.  Its something new one of our enthusiastic Activity Co-ordinators has started and seems to be a great success.

On Wednesday some of our residents took the opportunity to get their hair done in our lovely salon with Teresa, our hairdresser.  Father John also made his regular weekly visit to Farnham Mill.  He arrived just in time as during our morning quiz he was able to explain what Myrrh and Frankincense were.

In the afternoon we enjoyed visits from family and friends – this included seeing a much loved dog.

Thursday 30 December and residents enjoyed relaxing hand massages in the morning.  This is a lovely sensory experience and our residents find it very relaxing.

In the afternoon it was our Thursday Flower Arranging Club.  Everyone enjoys this activity as we love to see the different flowers and arrange them in vases to put around our home.

Friday 31 December – as we counted down to New Years Day we started the morning with walks outside.  Its always good to see the wildlife on the pond.

In the afternoon we had a bit of fun with some props.  We had a selection of wigs, hats and cocktails and took photos of each other to celebrate the start of the New Year.  Our Chef put together a lovely buffet and we all drank a toast to 2022.

Saturday 1st January and we started the New Year with walks outside in the gardens.  In the afternoon some residents watched a film together whilst other residents preferred to be creative and do art or craft activities.  There is always a choice at Farnham Mill.

Sunday 2nd January and residents caught up with the news in the Sunday Papers or watched our Church Service which we stream from the local church.

In the afternoon we relaxed by doing puzzles, chatting and generally just socialising with each other.  It’s a great way to end the week and we look forward to seeing what’s planned for the coming week.
