There was a lot going on at Farnham Mill this week as we got prepared for Christmas.  We decorated Christmas trees which are displayed all around the home, made snowmen table decorations and, of course, made our first batch of mince pies.  This gave us all a chance to reminisce about the traditional things we love about this time of year.

Monday 6 December and we started off decorating our trees – the lights were all in a tangle so we had to be very patient and untangle them first before we could put the baubles on.  We were very proud of our finished tree.

On Tuesday we carried on with decorating our trees, interrupted by a little friendly four-legged visitor.  We did like to make a fuss of him.

Our Tuesday baking club also made some lovely chocolate cupcakes – delicious.

Wednesday 8 December and our Card making club were busy making Christmas cards which we sell for our charity – Families Supporting Care.  It’s a very rewarding activity as we can see that we are raising funds for a good cause.

In the afternoon we had entertainment from Martin and his Ukulele.   He played lots of Christmas songs and it was lovely for us to join in singing our favourites.

On Thursday 9 December our Craft Club got to work on making our Christmas table decorations.  They were very simple but effective snowmen glass jars.

In the afternoon we got together to arrange flowers.  We love the opportunity to arrange such colourful flowers and have them in our rooms and around the home.   This week there were also some beautiful Christmas wreaths and pine cones to decorate.

Afterwards we were able to celebrate a lovely lady’s birthday with a wonderful cake specially baked by our chef.

On Friday 10 December we started the day off with a Christmas word game.  Everyone gathered round to take part.

In the afternoon we relaxed doing puzzles, exercises and a few balloon games.  It never stops at Farnham Mill.

Saturday 11 December and residents enjoyed going out for a morning walk before settling down with some quizzes.

In the afternoon we enjoyed some Festive Pig Racing.  We all cheered on our favourite pig – was it Tinsel, Crackers, Stilton, Mince pie, Snowflake, Rudolf, Santa or Bauble.  I think everyone was a winner and we had a lot of fun.

There was another birthday to celebrate in the afternoon – another very lovely lady.

Sunday 12 December and it was time to make a batch of mince pies.  One resident also requested marmalade pies so, of course, we made these too.  They went down really well when we watched our afternoon film.  Residents couldn’t decide which ones they preferred.
