Always a busy week at Farnham Mill with lots of different activities from table tennis, football, craft and lots of walks in the garden – but Afternoon Tea is something enjoyed by everyone.
Monday 11 October and we started the day getting active with ball and balloon games. It’s a great way to stay active but we also have fun at the same time.
In the afternoon we took the opportunity to play some games of scrabble, kick a ball around outside and our craft club also made some lovely Hedgehogs out of paper plates. There was something for everyone at Farnham Mill.
After everyone’s busy afternoon we sat together for a lovely cup of tea with homemade cakes and chatted about what we had all been doing.
Tuesday morning started off just as active as Monday – table tennis was being played around the home. Not sure who won the tournament but everyone had fun.
In the afternoon we enjoyed some sensory games as well as taking advantage of the lovely sunny weather and spending time outside, followed by another delicious afternoon tea.
On Wednesday 13 October we had an interesting morning where we learnt some Autumn theme facts – we all reminisced about having conker fights in the school playground and how we would soak them in vinegar first.
Wednesday afteroon and we always enjoy it when Louis plays the piano for us. We listen to some lovely music before joining in and singing along to our favourite songs.
Thursday began with our Art Club making some lovely Autumn Wreaths to decorate the home. Lots of painty/gluey fingers but we were very pleased with our efforts.
In the afternoon it was our regular Flower Arranging Club and this week as a reward for our efforts, the chef made some fresh scones which we enjoyed with jam and cream.
Other residents preferred to enjoy the garden and sat in the sunshine watching the ducks.
Friday morning and we had another visit from Daisy, Alison’s dog. She is a regular visitor and knows who will give her treats. Some of our residents decided to relax in our sensory room. We got the chance to listen to music, watch relaxing images and enjoy a drink together.
In the afternoon some residents had a go at decorating cupcakes. It was fun trying to ice letters of the alphabet on them. More fun was had eating them though !
Saturday 16 October and in the morning we started off with some balloon games before one of our residents got his Scalextric set out. Great fun for the boys to become racing drivers.
In the afternoon we had a chance to have walks in the garden before our monthly Residents Meeting. This is an opportunity for residents to discuss matters such as the food, staff and activities with Alison. It is great to have this time to air our views and get answers to any questions we may have.
Sunday was a busy day. As well as the Church Service being watched by some residents and our Afternoon Film, residents also enjoyed walks outside to enjoy the fresh air before, and taking part in some ‘pub games’. There was darts and snooker for us to join in and, of course, lots of smiles. Later they enjoyed a cup of tea whilst painting or reading.
