Making friends is what we love about Farnham Mill.  There are many opportunities to get together whether out in the garden or joining in a quiz in the main lounge as a group.

Monday morning and we started off quite energetic – stretching for that balloon.  Who was going to hit it first?

And we continued being energetic in the afternoon with walks in the garden.  Its lovely seeing the colourful flowers around our beautiful pond and having the time to relax and enjoy our surroundings.

Tuesday morning and we settled down hearing some ‘Fun Olympic Facts’ such as the unlit Olympic torch has been taken to space several times and that live pigeons were used in the archery event in the 1900 games.

Tuesday is also a day when our lovely hairdresser visits and the ladies get a chance to be pampered.  We’re so lucky to have Teresa who knows just how we like our hair styled, as well as our lovely care partner, Annie, who gave residents a delightful hand massage.

However, other residents enjoyed challenging games of scrabble on the balcony or boules outside in the garden.  Our Activities Team are able to make sure there is something for everyone.

And we were even able to surprise one of our lovely residents on her birthday.  How wonderful to share it with her family and enjoy the cake, of course.

On Wednesday we were able to enjoy more time outside in the garden, as well as art and painting being available. A very relaxing day.

Balcony games were how we started Thursday.   Lots of concentration to see who scored the most points.

In the afternoon we did some word games.  Its good to keep our brain active and we like getting together when playing these games.

On Thursday morning there were more balcony games, this time a little bit of golf.

Thursday afternoon, as well as our usual Flower Arranging Club we also had a chance to try some Japanese Sweet and Savoury treats.   As the Olympics were being held in Tokyo, our Activities Team had visited the local Asian shops so that our residents could try some.  There were rice crackers with seaweed, pea crisps and wafers with tea flavoured cream or chocolate.  All very interesting.

Friday the weather was very changeable, one minute sunshine, then heavy showers.  A time to take a stroll around the garden whilst the sun is shining and then puzzles and crosswords when it was raining.

Saturday morning and our Card Making Club set to work to replace many of the cards that have been purchased recently.  We were very pleased with this task as we know that the money raised from the sale of our cards goes to the charity – ‘Families Supporting Care’.  Something very close to all our hearts.

In the afternoon, as the weather was miserable, we had Afternoon Tea on the First Floor of the home.  A catch up with friends around the home, as well as a chance to make new friends.

Sunday is a day of traditions for us at Farnham Mill.   During the morning many of our residents watched the Church Service from our local parish church of Badshot Lea and Hale and then we enjoy a traditional Sunday roast. This week it was roast lamb.  This then sets us up for our Afternoon Film.  A couple of weeks ago we watched Born Free and this week we watched the sequel, Living Free.  A few tissues were needed as we worried about Elsa’s lion cubs but it had a happy ending of course.  And now we look forward to the next week and see what is planned for us at Farnham Mill.
