This week at Farnham mill we have enjoyed our week for Christmas celebrations. We all enjoyed our Christmas meal; Christmas carols and loads more activities.
Monday morning, we started the day with some exercise, we got the blood flowing and it woke us all up with the upbeat music playing in the background. Everyone was singing along and having a good laugh. We also helped out with decorating the tables ready for our Christmas meal.
In the afternoon it was time for our Christmas meal. The tables where decorated beautifully full of crackers, table decorations that we all made and mini father Christmases. This was a lovely time for us to get together and enjoy Christmas early.
Tuesday morning, we enjoyed the sensory game of water painting. This is a relaxing way to paint and unwind after a busy day yesterday.
One of our residents also made their wish come true as they saw their great grandson play the piano for the very first time. This was such an amazing experience for both the resident and the staff member who sat with her. It was full of joy and tears of happiness.
In the afternoon we enjoyed drinks and mince pie with our deputy manager here at Farnham mill. We enjoyed a small glass of sherry and if we didn’t like mince pies, we got cake instead which is just as yummy!
Wednesday we enjoyed the interactive table and splatting all the paint on the table without making any mess. This table is a good way to use our hand eye co-coronation as well as using our memory for the different games.
In the afternoon we watched a nativity play that one of our fellow residents’ grandchildren where in. This was a lovely experience for all and was so nice to see the children perform and sing the Christmas songs.
We even got to experience the cuddle curtain, we held hands with our loved one and it brought a tear to everyone’s eye as it was a magical moment.
Christmas eve and father Christmas came to see us all, with lots of Christmas presents.
In the afternoon we enjoyed carol singing from both ourselves and the staff too. It was lovely for everyone to join in and bring the Christmas cheer to Farnham Mill. We also enjoyed some sherry and sweets treats including Christmas cake.
Christmas day was full of calls from loved ones, present opening and lots of yummy food!
Boxing day! We sat with the carers and the activity staff and had one to one chat’s as well as reminiscing about the good old days.
In the afternoon we got creative and painted landscapes and added a Christmas twist to them. This helped us unwind and relax after such a busy week.
Sunday was a relaxing day for all, we have had such a busy week celebrating Christmas and this was our time doing the different activities.
Here at Farnham Mill we Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and we wish you a Happy New Year!
